Tour - Whales of the Sea of Cortez

The eastern coast of Baja California Sur attracts many species of crustaceans and marine mammals due to its abundance of food, and are home to blue whales, fin whales (which are very common), humpbacks, dolphins and sea lions. Blue whales can grow up to 110 feet long with an average length of 83 feet, and weigh up to 200 tons with an average weight of 120 tons. Their birth length is 23 feet and their birth weight is about 2.5 tons. These statistics give you an idea of how much blue whales grow and eventually weigh. Winter migration brings these whales south to a place called, Costa Rica Dome. Few things in life will match the impact you experience seeing these huge mammals in peaceful waters, greeting you with their tails from a far distance or approaching your boat to be touched. The serene waters of the Sea of Cortez and the lagoons on the Pacific side of Baja, host an incredible amount of marine species every year that make a long migratory journey to complete reproductive cycles and search for food. Enigmatic islands, rugged mountains and soft sand dunes dramatically frame the adventure of meeting these incredible beings, who have a genetic memory of our planet. Tour itinerary includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, boat transportation to whale watching area, informative briefing before experiencing whale watching, experienced guide, box lunch, soft drinks and snacks throughout the tour.
